... Architectural services start with a visit to the Funeral Director to determine their building needs. Typically, a client will show us existing facilities and tell us what they like or dislike. We also determine space requirements for the new building or remodeling project. New buildings are designed by the client's description of desired rooms and sizes which are generally realized from experience.
... After taking measurements of the existing building or visiting the proposed building site, we develop a few schematic plans to show the client the proposed site layout and floor plans. After the client reviews the schematics and gives comments, we revise the plans for approval. In some situations, zoning approval must be obtained and we will assist in this step.
... A similar process is used to develop exterior views of the project. Preliminary drawings are submitted to the client for comments, then revisions are made and given to the client for approval.
... Upon final approval from the client, we develop construction documents which consist of Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and other detail drawings and specifications which fully describe all elements of the proposed building project.
... Next, we will advertise for contractors and receive bids for the project. In some cases the client knows which contractors they want to use. We will negotiate with the contractors for an acceptable contract agreement.
... After contracts are awarded to the contractors, we will visit the job site during construction to answer questions, review shop drawings, review contractor pay requests and process the final completion documentation.
